Vietnam M&A Forum 2024 is owned by COME under the auspices of the Ministry of Planning and Investments. The forum is at 4 p.mth edition, strengthening its status as the premier annual event on mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and investment opportunities in Vietnam. The event was attended by 400 guests, including local and foreign investors.

Addressing the forum, Le Trong Minh, COMEeditor-in-chief and head of the forum’s Organizing Committee, said: “According to international research and consulting organizations, the global M&A market last year was one of the worst bear markets in the last ten years due to the uncertain geopolitical climate. and the global economic downturn, which has led to a decline in both the value of transactions and the number of transactions.”

Despite some signs of improvement, global M&A activity remains bleak in 2024. In the first half of 2024, while deal value increased slightly, total deal volume declined compared to the first half of 2023. Recently, some positive news has emerged, but does not indicate a breakthrough in the near future.

“In Vietnam, many deals have been announced since the beginning of the year, bringing renewed excitement about a lively market after a rather gloomy year,” Minh said. “However, there are many deals that have yet to be completed and many negotiations and discussions are taking place. The market is expected to see a rebound in light of strong demand from both buyers and sellers in the global market.”
