Sahir Ludhianvi's 'nazm' inspired short film against brutality in women releases - India TV

Sisakti Rooh (Sobbing Soul), a short film produced by Jigsaw Pictures was released on Wednesday. The 3-minute teaser of this film was released on YouTube on November 25. Inspired by the evocative nazm of Sahir Ludhianvi, this short film is part of Jigsaw Pictures’ initiative to raise awareness about violence against women. It is significant to note that this short film was produced entirely with the support of dedicated actors and technicians who volunteered their time, allowing all production costs to be donated to a poor woman’s home to support their welfare.

In honor of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, which was celebrated on November 25, this powerful short film was released today. The short film sends a powerful message against the cruelty faced by women around the world.

The gruesome sexual assault of a woman doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Hospital rocked the country and sparked discussions and protests. But even as stories like the Nirbhaya Case, the Hathras Case and many others recede from the news, the horrific cycle of violence persists, harming countless wives, mothers, children and sisters. A permanent reminder of this harsh reality and a call to action for people to respect and defend women are Sisakti Rooh’s goals.

Rajnish Lall, founder and producer of Jigsaw Pictures said that his film was born out of the need to create a message that would resonate deeply with both women and the men who respect them. “I worked with Abdulla Saleem, who was the ideal director for this moving production because of his sensitivity and knowledge of the issue.
