Hollyoaks Christmas and New Year spoilers ahead. The episodes in question are now available for viewing on Channel 4 streaming as part of Christmas 2024 box.

Grace Black (Tamara Wall) was shot by a sniper during Christmas caroling concert after jumping into the line of fire to protect husband Freddie Roscoe (Charlie Clapham).

Freddie, as viewers know, fell in love with Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe), who is battling cancer and planned to leave his wife during the holidays for her.

But before she can break the news to Grace, she jumps in front of a sniper for Freddie, getting shot in the process.

Freddie sets out to find out who shot her, but it turns out that Grace staged the whole thing, getting Rex (Jonny Labey) to shoot her so she could jump in front of Freddie and play the hero.

Her goal was to stop Freddie from leaving her after she suspected he would do just that to be with Mercedes.

Will Freddie find out the truth?

It remains to be seen, but he has spent much of the Channel 4 soap’s box office deals trying to find out who was behind the shooting, unaware that the perpetrator was much closer to home.

Hollyoaks has undergone a number of changes over the past year, with a reduction in episodes and the exit of many cast members, with a time jump being used to explain the changes.

The events of the show are now permanently set to one year in the future.

Hollyoaks streams Monday to Wednesday from 7am on Channel 4’s streaming platform or watch episodes on TV at 7pm on E4.
