Ogun: Police arrest four suspects for stealing motorcycles, cylinder

Agents from the Ajuwon and Odeda Divisions of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested four suspects for stealing motorcycles and gas cylinders.

The suspects are Joseph Ogu, Sunday Jeremiah, Isikilu Azeez and Faruq Azeez.

Police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, told DAILY POST on Thursday that the first two suspects were arrested for theft while the other two were detained for allegedly attacking local security operatives who were trying to arrest another suspect who flees, identified as Lati, in Iyana-Efon. Odeda area.

Odutola explained that Ogu, 33, was arrested for stealing a Bajaj Boxer commercial motorcycle with registration number TRE 228 WZ belonging to one Adebiyi Philip at Alapara Junction in Ajuwon.

Odutola stated: “The commercial motorcyclist discovered that his motorcycle was missing from where he had parked it. After conducting a thorough search, Adebiyi found the motorcycle with Ogu, a 33-year-old man, who was caught tampering with the key and security system.

“Similarly, an incident of robbery and assault took place in Iyana-Efon Kila, Odeda Local Government Area, where a member of the Nigeria Hunters and Security Group, Dele Sosanya, reported that Lati, a suspect in the robbery colana seeds from sa. farm on December 19 and 22, fled the community when he (Sosanya) tried to confront him.

“At 10:15 a.m. on Christmas Eve, the suspect was spotted again, and when attempts were made to arrest him, he allegedly became violent.”

Odutola noted that during the attempt to arrest Lati, his two accomplices, Isikilu Azeez and Faruq Azeez, attacked a security officer, Segun Owolabi, with a machete, enabling Lati to escape from in front of the place.

“The officer sustained serious injuries before a patrol team arrived at the scene and arrested Isikilu and Faruq, while Lati fled the community,” she said.

She claimed that efforts are on to nab the fleeing suspect and an investigation has begun.
