Thailand’s Ministry of Transport has announced the extension of public transport hours and free parking to facilitate travel for tourists and residents during the 2025 New Year holidays.

This initiative aims to promote safe travel, reduce traffic congestion and encourage the use of public transport.

The Mass Transit Authority of Thailand (MRT) and affiliated agencies are set to expand services for the BTS Skytrain and adopt the necessary safety measures to facilitate the travel of those participating in the countdown events at key locations in Bangkok such as ICONSIAM, One Bangkok and CentralWorld.

Passengers are advised to check the official websites and social media pages of MRT operators for the latest information on service hours, parking availability and safety measures.

Thailand, Southeast Asia’s second-largest economy, has predicted an exponential increase in the country’s tourism during the New Year festivities, which are expected to generate more than 62 billion baht ($1.8 billion) in income.
