Rodrigo Bentancur was stretched out in Tottenham’s EFL match with Liverpool

Tottenham’s impressive start to their Carabao Cup tie against Liverpool was cut short after just nine minutes after Rodrigo Bentancur picked up a worrying injury.

The Uruguayan appeared to land awkwardly, prompting both sets of players to make an urgent call to medics and a lengthy stoppage before he was eventually taken off the field to be replaced by Brennan Johnson.

Bentancur, who has already missed much of the season through suspension, will be hoping for a quick return to action as Tottenham’s injuries continue.
