The latest California wildfires: Another blaze breaks out in the Hollywood Hills - as five dead and 130,000 people told to flee their homes

Five people died and many were injured after a series of fires that broke out in Los Angeles on Tuesday continued to burn out of control, in what fire chiefs called a “tragic” chapter for the city.

Strong winds of up to 100 mph fanned the flames and initially prevented firefighters from receiving air support.

More fires continue to wreak havoc in Los Angeles – with five firefighters struggling to contain them.

The other fire that started on Tuesday, the Hurst fire in Sylmar, is now over 700 acres in size.

Five people are known to have been killed, all by Eaton fire.

The The Woodley fire in the Sepulveda Basin was “under control” before growing over 30 acres as a wildfire engulfed Hollywood. Studio City it has now been extinguished with no casualties.

Over 130,000 people evacuated

About 130,000 people are now under mandatory evacuation orders across the city.

Three robbers who broke into abandoned houses were arrested.
