Carl Mold – illustrated in 2023 – admitted eight offenses at Nottingham Crown Court

A conman was closed for fraud offenses that saw him to take a total of over 65,000 pounds from five people for building works that have not been completed.

Carl Molds, 59, appeared on Monday at the court of Nottingham, under the name of Nicholas Hampshire, where he was sentenced to three years and 10 months in prison.

He previously admitted five accusations of fraud through a false representation between June 2021 and December 2022.

The court has heard that the MOLD methods involved requesting more money, telling customers that they have to buy more materials or that the work was more complicated than the first thought.

The court heard three of the five victims of fraud paid thousands to other builders to finish the work left incomplete by Mold.

The victim’s impact statement was read by Judge Nirmal Shant KC.

“I am devastated both emotionally and financially,” he said. “I don’t think (mold) had no intention to complete the work.”

“This ordeal left me embarrassed and ashamed.”

Judge Shant added that other victims expressed similar feelings, but he said to Mold: “You should not feel embarrassed, you are the one who should feel embarrassed.”

She said that the number of companies and pseudonyms used by Molda showed that there is “significant planning” behind her crimes.

“Extended” beliefs of the past

The defense said that MOLD’s apologies and the reasons for guilt have shown “some remorse evidence”.

Judge Shant said that an excuse “does not even start to cover it”, but granted credit for the pleaders.

“You used every method you could to deceive the hard work,” she added.

A criminal behavior order was imposed, which prohibits Molds to do any construction work for any properties in the UK for 10 years.

MOLD also acknowledged two leadership offenses of 2023, when it was stopped by the police in the Radford area of Nottingham, and routine checks revealed that it drove while being disqualified and without insurance.

The Court heard that MOLD had previous “extended” convictions, including “multiple” crimes on its driving file.

In 2023, Mold, Basford Road, West Bridgford, received a 20 -month prison sentence for 18 months for harassment After threatening to have a friend shot or beaten.

As part of this sentence, a restriction order was imposed, which he violated in February 2024.
