53 -year -old man arrested, accused of trying to sexually exploit two teenagers

Grand Junction, there. (KJCT) – A man is behind bars after an investigation that started two weeks ago in a sexual crime reported in Northwestern Grand Junction.

According to a press release issued by the Grand Junction Police Department, on Tuesday, the investigation started on February 4, around 10:00, after the officers were sent to a sexual crime reported in the northern -Vest of Grand Junction . Police said the reporting party told them that a 15-year-old girl “changed explicit messages” with an adult man for money and other objects.

The law enforcement said that, while investigating the report, the officers found out that the suspected man was behind the messages, would also have been in contact with another 17-year-old girl. He also rented hotel rooms where he will meet with teenagers, according to the police.

Frank Kenneth Cook, 53, was arrested on February 14 on charge of attempted sexual exploitation of a child and contributed to the delinquency of a minor. According to the jail records in Mesa County, Cook has been closed on Tuesday afternoon, with an obligation of $ 100,000.

In the statement, GJPD reminded parents and guardians to have conversations in progress with their children about how dangerous the world can be and warned about predators who use social media and text messenger to exploit children.

GJPD said he would not release any information about the victims, because they were both children.
