Tapia, 27, from Marshalltown, will send a written plea of ​​guilt for aggression with the intention of committing sexual abuse, an aggravated crime. Initially he was accused of sexual abuse of third degree, a Class C crime that has a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a fine of $ 13,660.

Tapia was arrested in April, after a case of sexual abuse was related to the Marshalltown Police Department in August 2023, which involved an adult victim.

In accordance with the agreement of plea and in response to a guilty plea, the state will recommend Tapia to be included in the Iowa sex register, get credit for time served and receive two years of supervised evidence. The order without contact will also be extended to five years.
