Middletown police suspend vehicle search reported in Connecticut River

Middletown – Middletown police responded to Harbour Park at about 19:41 on Tuesday, after receiving a report according to which a vehicle drove to the Connecticut River.

It was believed that the vehicle had entered the water from the northern part of the park.

Middletown fire staff replied and both agencies have started a coordinated search effort using staff and drones.

Authorities could not locate a vehicle in water.

Search and rescue efforts have been suspended due to poor lighting conditions and staff safety.

The Middletown Police Department’s diving team is expected to resume search and recovery operations on Wednesday morning.

The police said there is no public safety threat and no confirmation that someone was injured.
