Traveler arrested for shopping at Changi Airport upon returning to Singapore

Singapore, February 27, a 56-year-old woman was arrested for holding a $ 716 bag (RM2.372) from a retail store at Terminal 4 of Changi Airport.

The incident took place on January 7, when an employee discovered the missing bag on the display shelf.

Supervisory filming revealed that the suspect, a Chinese national, placed the bag on the luggage stroller and left the store without paying.

After the woman’s identification, the police found that she had already left Singapore, reported The Straits or.

She returned to Singapore on February 17 and was promptly arrested at the airport.

The woman will be accused in court on February 27 for theft in the house. If convicted, it could face up to seven years in prison, a fine or both.

The deputy commissioner of the Airport Police Division, M Malathi Police Commissioner, stressed that the cases of theft in the store are taken seriously, and the increased use of the CCTV by the retailers ensures that such crimes do not go unnoticed.

This arrest follows a similar case in January, in which an Indian male national was caught for shopping at terminal 2 after returning to Singapore.
