Chinese national arrested on returning to S’Pore because he would have stolen the $ 716 hand bag from the Changi Airport Shop store

A 56 -year -old Chinese national was detained after returning to Singapore because he had shopped at Changi Airport on February 17th.

An employee of a retail shop in the terminal transit area 4 registered a $ 716 purse missing on the display shelf on January 7, which caused the police to get involved in this case.

The suspect would have put the bag on the luggage wagon after entering the store and then left without paying, according to supervisory materials.

Police said the woman’s name was established later, but until then she had already left Singapore.

On February 17, after a month later, he arrived back in Singapore and was immediately arrested at Changi Airport.

According to the police, she will face charges in a home on February 27 in court. It is facing a maximum sentence of seven years in prison, a fine or both, if convicted.

The Deputy Commissioner of the M Malathi Police, who is the commander of the Airport Police Division, told The Straits Times: “Police has a serious view of the theft in the store.”

“This case has reiterated our point that, with the widespread adoption of closed circuit television technology by retailers, the cases of theft in the store, which could have been unobserved at the time of the incident, will eventually detected,” he added.

A similar incident happened in January, when an Indian male national was accused of stealing something from a store in the transit area 2 before climbing his aircraft. A few days later, he returned to Singapore and was arrested.
