Phil Murphy learns that ice means business after the massive detention center reopens in the heart of the Sanctuary State of New Jersey

WASHINGTON – The governor of New Jersey, Phil Murphy, has confused. Now, he learns that the director of ICE, Tom Homan, is serious. Today, New Jersey became the first state to see a former ice detention installation before a major immigration crisis in New Jersey.

Under the leadership of governor Murphy, New Jersey has become one of several major “sanctuary states” for illegal criminal migrants.

American immigration and customs application (ICE) announced the reopening of the Delaney Hall installation in Newark, New Jersey, as a Federal Immigration Detention Center. The facility of 1,000 beds will resume operations following an agreement with its owner.

“This detention center is the first to open under the new administration,” said the interim director of ICE, Caleb Vitello. “The location near an international airport simplifies the logistics and helps to facilitate the timely processing of people in our custody, while we follow the mandate of President Trump to arrest, retain and eliminate illegal aliens from our communities.”

The reopening of the installation will expand the ability to detention in the north -est, supporting the increasing operations of application and removal of the agency in the region.

The ICE decision to reopen Delaney Hall marks a significant extension of federal immigration detention efforts under the Trump administration.
