Suspect was found dead after investigating internal incidents in Maplewood

A great police presence was seen in Maplewood on Wednesday night near McMenemy and Lurie Avenue East.

According to a Maplewood Police press release, the officers were called to a residence for a report of a physical internal incident between a lover and a girlfriend around 8:05 pm

The officers arrived at the house and started talking to one of the people inside, identified by the police as a victim. While talking to them on the main floor, the officers heard what two firearms were coming from the basement.

The police evacuated the residence and learned that the suspect had access to a gun inside the house.

The officers said they were not able to contact the suspect in the basement and called Swat from Ramsey County to help.

Two hours after the initial call, the authorities found that the basement suspect died due to an apparent weapon wound. No one else was injured in the incident.

The suspect’s identity will not be released until their family is notified.
