“Monster” receives decades in prison for sexual abuse of children

Grand Rapids, me – a man will probably spend his years left in life in prison for a decade of sexual abuse against children.

Eric Dean WiedMayer was sentenced on Thursday, February 27, to at least 25 years in prison for three charges of criminal conduct of grade I.

However, the judge ordered two of the sentences to be executed, which means that Wiedmayer will spend at least 50 years in the state correction department for his crimes.

The deputies of the sheriff in Kent County arrested the man 40 years ago in Rockford area almost two years ago, after investigating a sexual abuse that involves more children.

MLIVE/The Grand Rapids Press does not identify victims according to age or gender to protect their anonymity.

Police says sexual abuse began in 2012 and stretched until Wiedmayer’s arrest in April 2023. He was guilty in September for three CSC accusations and a single number of sexual abusive activities for children.

WiedMayer appeared on Thursday morning in court to learn his punishment.

“The facts in this case are equal,” said the deputy prosecutor of Kent County, Elizabeth Bartlett. She called him “monster” and detailed horrible sexual abuse.

“The amount of damages he has made to these children is insurmountable,” Bartlett added.

Wiedmayer acknowledged that he betrayed the confidence of many people while reading from a handwritten letter.

“The shame of my actions extends far from what I am accused,” he said. “… I do not know the whole extent of the traumas I have provoked.”

He acknowledged a plus of porn, quoted biblical verses and talked about help that he was looking forward to receiving while being incarcerated. At no time did he ever apologize to his victims.

Judge Scott Noto said he had taken the written impact statements of the victims with other reasons when they created a sentence.

Sentences for two accusations of CSC of the first degree were ordered to be executed consecutively, because “these offenses took place against the children,” noto said.

Wiedmayer was also sentenced to a term of five to 25 years in prison for an abusive abusive activity of the aggravated child.
