ExpressVPN, PCWorld top VPN providerhas just improved its service with the release of a new suite of identity theft protection tools.
The new package called Identity Defender offers three-pronged security: identity theft alerts, identity theft insurance and a data removal service. All new US subscribers to ExpressVPN’s 2-year plan will have access to these security tools starting today. Additional availability is expected to be released in the future.
In a statement, Lauren Hendry Parsons, a digital privacy advocate at ExpressVPN, said: “Discovering that your personal information has been compromised is stressful enough, but knowing what to do next can be even more challenging . With Identity Defender, we aim to provide users with a one-stop solution that not only helps them quickly determine if their information is at risk, but also guides them through effective steps to resolve any issues.”
The Identification alerts the feature offers three monitoring tools: address change monitoring, dark web monitoring, and social security number monitoring. It will continuously scan the web (and dark web) for any personal information and then alert you if anything is found. In addition, it will notify you anytime your Social Security number is used or your address has changed.
Then there’s more Identity theft insurance feature that will help cover you with up to $1 million in financial support if your identity has been stolen. However, it is worth noting that this benefit will only be included with the 1 or 2 year subscription plans. Monthly plan subscribers will have to pay an additional $7.99 per month for coverage.
Finally, there is the new Data Removal service that will search for your personal information on known data broker sites and then submit removal requests on your behalf. It will then continue to monitor the sites to ensure that your data does not reappear in the future.
All of these new features are available now and can be accessed with either Android or iOS devices, with more platforms to come in the near future.
