The border security force (BSF) will set up a new tactical headquarters (Tac HQS) in Punjab and Jammu to control the threat of the drone and the intruders of Pakistan on the Indian territory. The force will establish new such headquarters in sensitive or strategically important areas, usually near the border, to improve the command and control over the field units.

According to an official communication reviewed by news18, five HQ Tac offices will be set up along the Punjab border, as units, are the most vulnerable to the intrusions and infiltration of drones in the sector. This will be done with immediate effect.

“These nine headquarters will facilitate the rapid making of decisions, providing quick responses to border incidents, infiltration attempts or enemy actions. The locations have been strategically identified to support counter-filtration operations, anti-account-accounting and border-partrolling, ”a BSF’s senior official told News18.

These headquarters will be controlled by a senior officer under the direct supervision of officers at the IG and ADG level.

Because the units in Punjab and Jammu are extremely vulnerable, these new headquarters will allow the strength to respond effectively to drone attacks or other hostile activities. However, officials have noticed that, without counter-drone technology, single HQ tac can not fully manage the situation.

“The counter-drone technology is essential to address drone threats; Otherwise, senior officers will fight to control the situation. Technology is expected to be implemented soon, “a tall official told news18.

Drones are frequently used for smuggling, drugs and counterfeit currency over the border. Pakistan -based elements use drones for spying and throwing weapons, ammunition and drugs. Terrorists and smugglers try to cross the border at vulnerable points, especially in Punjab and Jammu sectors. This is why BSF needs fast response units to intercept and neutralize threats.

This headquarters will also help to monitor 24/7 of the critical areas and will ensure a faster unfolding forces in case of emergency.

BSF recently analyzed that Lahore Pakistan, together with Narowal, serves as a launch for drones entering India with a lot of drugs, weapons and ammunition. According to sources, Drone BSF forensic laboratories found that 184 drones – the largest number – originated in Lahore. The city is about 33 kilometers away on the road, but much closer through the air route on the India-Pakistan border. Narowal recorded 42 drones launched in the city, which are about 100 kilometers from Lahore. Other origins include Okara, Bahawalnagar and Toba Tek Singh in Pakistan.

The data compiled by the BSF have revealed that cities that are close to the India-Pakistan border are more active.

A senior official of the BSF said that medical -legal investigations revealed that some drones have made several trips before being intercepted. According to the data, the BSF contributed with the highest number of drones (284), while the Punjab Police (20), the Delhi Police (2) and the Manipur Police (1) provided a minimum number.
