Friedrich Merz’s conservatives won the elections of Germany, long before the rival parties, but shortly for 30% of the votes they waited.

“Let’s celebrate tonight and in the morning we will get to work,” he said for the checkerel supporters. He said he was “aware of the responsibility that is now in front of him.”

The other winner was the far -right alternative for Germany (AFD), which celebrates a record result of 20.8%.

The AFD candidate for the Chancellor, Alice Weidel, took a victory tour of her supporters, but even her party hoped for a higher result and the mood at HQ AFD was subjected.

“The Germans voted for change,” said Alice Weidel. She said that Friedrich Merz’s attempt to create a coalition will finally end in failure: “We will have fresh choices – I don’t think we will have to wait another four years.”

But just as the electoral map turned into a light blue in the east, much of the rest of Germany became black – the color.

After the collapse of the three -part coalition of Olaf Scholz at the end of last year, Merz asked the electorate to form a clear coalition with another party.

This allows him to solve as many problems in Germany in four years, he said, from a stagnant economy to closing his borders to irregular migrants.

German voters had other ideas. They came out in large numbers, with an 83% presence that was not seen since reunification in 1990, but Merz’s Christian looked for more than 28.6% of their votes and their sister party Bavarian.

Merz has excluded working with AFD. There is a taboo or a “firewall” that prevents mainstream parties in Germany from working with the extreme right.

But his most likely partner, social -democrats, suffered their worst result by 16.4%.

Their leader, Olaf Scholz’s output chancellor, said that the results of the elections were a bitter defeat for the party and that he will not participate in negotiations for a coalition.

Due to the relatively devoid of CDU performance, there was initially a certain doubt that two parts would be sufficient for a coalition.

Germany has just passed through four years of a three -part coalition, and the only other realistic partner was the green, whose leader, Robert Habeck, Merz ridiculed as a “heat pump representative” on the eve of the vote.

Merz, 69, has never occupied a ministerial job, but promised whether it became the next German Chancellor who showed management in Europe and has supported for Ukraine.

Most Germans were shocked by the open support that billionaire Elon Musk and US Vice -President JD Vance gave an alternative to Germany. Vance was accused of agitating to vote during a visit to Munich, while Elon Musk made repeated observations on his platform X.

It was Alice Weidel and her party at all bad, because AFD has enjoyed a 10 -point 10 -year -old support. But he also benefited from a successful Tiktok campaign, which attracted a large number of young voters.
