The authorities decided to suspend the VIP Darshan installation at the Kashwanath Temple from February 25 to 27, due to the large anticipated assembly for Mahashivratri. The executive director of the Temple, Vishwa Bhushan Mishra, said the influx of visitors has grown as devotions are returning from Maha Kumbh in the process near Praygraj.

Increasing the expected foot during the festivities

Mahashivratri falls on February 26 this year, coinciding with Maha Kumbh Mela. Pilgrims from all over the country, including Saints from Various Akharas, such as Naga Sadhus, are expected to visit the Temple in large numbers. Mishra stressed that Naga Akharas will also have a great procession, temporarily blocking access through gate number 4, which leads to longer waiting times for ordinary devotes.

Precautions for devoted

Authorities have taken into account hot and humid weather conditions, which could present health risks for children, women and older visitors. “Considering this, the authorities decided to completely suspend VIP Darshan for the three -day period,” Mishra said. Last year, about 12 devoted Lakh visited the temple on Mahashivratri, but this year, the number is expected to be even higher because of Maha Kumbh.

On Mahashivratri, the number is expected to reach 10 to 12 Lakh. In order to manage the influx, the number of queues in all four gates of the temple was raised, and the designated time slots were assigned to Akharas and Naga Sadhus, with the remaining slots for general devotes. Additional arrangements include drinking water stations, and glucose supplies, shaded waiting areas, medical facilities and ambulances.

Deputy Police Commissioner (Kashi area), Gaurav Banswal, said the police identified 55 locations in the city for barricade. The premises of the temple were divided into areas and sectors, with 13 sectors allocated to dedicated police forces. The extension from Godowlia at the intersection of Maidagin was designated an area without vehicles, with an extended barricade at Dashshwamedh Grat.
