Husker offense excels against Utes

Lincoln, Neb. (Nebraska Athletics) – Nebraska’s bats shone while team no. 16 Husker Softball went down Utah Utes in five halves with a score of 10-2 Sunday after -Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic from Cathedral City, Calif.

Big Red passed 12-4 in the season, while Utes dropped to 4-12.

No Hit Utah 10-3 and Huskers were 4-for-7, with runners in the scoring position. Abbie Squier drove the crime, going 3-for-3 with two rounds home and four RBIs. Today’s game was the fourth Multi-Homer game in her career. Kacie Hoffmann added two strokes, and Hoffmann and Ava Bredwell also killed for no.

Jordyn Bahl (5-2) threw all 5.0 halves for Big Red and allowed two running while hitting five beats and went on the route. Brooklyn Carreon (1-3) took the loss for UTES.

Utah posted a single RBI and a double RBI at the bottom of the first that drove at the beginning 2-0.

Huskers fought back, recording a second four-round half. Bredwell opened Inning with a Homer. Olivia Dinardo was hit by a land, and Kennadi Williams Pinch ran to Dinardo before a two-round Hoffmann Homer to make the score 3-2. Squier wrapped the half of his second weekend to make the Nebraska leading with 4-2.

He did not continue to expand his advantage at the top of the fourth. Hannah Camenzind sang to reach the base and Squier beat his second running of the game to make the score 6-2. Ava Kuszak was walking and Bahl reached an error first and they both scored a single Lauren Camenzing to the right field. The score was located at 8-2 in the fifth half.

Dinardo sang in the left center to start the fifth half, and Nessa McMillen entered. Hoffmann doubled to advance McMillen on the third, and Katelyn Candea came to run for Hoffmann. Squier sang to mark McMillen and Kuszak doubled to mark Candea, and the big red closed the victory by 10-2.

He will not compete in the Wichita State Tournament on February 2, March 2. Huskers will open the competition at 10 AM (CT), Friday, February 28, at Wichita, Kan. The game is free to listen to the Huskers radio network.
