Helsinki Memorial stage for candle for Ukraine | Yle news

The event that honors the victims of the Ukrainian war is open to the public and starts at 6:00 pm in the Senate Senate Sen.

On Monday, it marks the third anniversary of Russia’s large -scale invasion in Ukraine, and cities around the world, including Helsinki, organize memorial events.

“We invite people from Helsinki to the event of light for Ukraine, in the Senate Square, on Monday, February 24, at 18:00, to light a serious candle for the victims of the Ukraine war,” the city said in a press release.

The event organizers distribute about 2,000 candles from 17.30 PM. Following the event at 19:00, there will be a multilingual, ecumenical prayer job, organized at the Helsinki Cathedral.

The entrance is also free at an exhibition entitled “Unisave diplomas” at the main building of the University of Helsinki (Fabianinkatu 33) outside the Senate Square. The exhibition honors the memory of Ukrainian students who will never graduate from losing their lives in the Russian invasion.

The Light for Ukraine event is organized by the Lutheran Church in Helsinki, Mothersforpece and the Ukrainian Association of Finland, in cooperation with the city of Helsinki, the University of Helsink, the Prime Minister and the Embassy of Ukraine.
