The Arav actor, has risen to his fame in his victory in the first season of the Bigg Boss Tamil. However, he has been missing for a long time, just to reappear as a threatening bastard of Kalaga Thalaivan in Udhayanidhi Stalin, directed by Magizh Thirumeni. Now, he has made another good impression on the public Tamil with his recent role in Vidaamuyarchi, a significant stage in his career. Speaking of the same in an extended interview with CNN-New 18, Arav also reveals details about working with AJITH Kumar, his unforgettable moments on the set and the lessons he learned from both director Magizh Thirumeni, as And by Ajith.

Interview extracts:

How did you come aboard Vidamuyychi?

It was a big surprise! When the news broke out that Magizh Sir and Ajith Sir collaborate, many friends and wise people asked if they were part of it. But I didn’t have any idea. Then, in August 2023, I received an appeal from Pro Sush Chandra, sir, saying, “Ara, you are on board.” I was delighted. From there, everything happened quickly, and in two months, we started shooting.

How was it to work with AJITH Kumar?

I am a huge fan of Mr. AJITH. When you meet him, you are amazed – not only from his star, but by the person who is. It was made sure that I have a strong presence on the screen and was always encouraging. He never acts as a superstar on the plateau – he treats everyone equally, which is inspired.

You had a major stunt scene with Mr. AJITH. What happened during the accident?

We were shooting a car sequence with a hummer. I jokingly asked the Lord if the vehicle could overturn, and he laughed, saying, “No. Trust in AJITH SIR. Later, he personally took me to the hospital to make sure I’m fine.

Even after the fall, Ajith Sir broke the glass and left the vehicle to recover. He was worried because there was the possibility of an explosion. At the moment, a lot passed to me. My wife delivered a child just a few weeks ago. I pray for my life, for AJITH’s Mr. and I was worried that the film should be completed without any delay. Fortunately, nothing happened. Mr. Ajith was special that he would take me to the hospital himself, and during the trip, he told me things I can’t share with anyone. But those things will stay with me forever.

You played on the screen a character who antagonizes AJITH KUMAR. How did the audience react?

(Laughs) I expected people to be upset with my character and they were! It was the one who insisted on playing such a role. In fact, the scenes were written a little with low key. He was the one who said we should curse him. He insisted on calling him “boomer”, because he said that only then the character will have an impact. Following the movie, I could hear the fans cursing on the screen, which I took as a compliment. It means I did my job well. But after the movie, the same fans came to me, hugged me and said I did a great job. That felt full of satisfaction.

What did you learn from Magizh Thirumeni as director?

Magizh Sir is a perfectionist. He believes that if the public gives us their time, you don’t have to deceive them. His pre -production is meticulous. He took his time writing, so when you ask a question on the set, he knows exactly what he wants. Even in doubling, he is precise – his process completely transforms the film. I learned so much about making movies from him.

Ajith Kumar is known for his love of racing and cycling. Did he share with you the philosophers of life?

AJITH SIR always emphasizes sports and hobbies. One day, he accidentally asked me: “What sport are you playing? What’s your hobby? “I was surprised because, as adults, we often forget these things. He believes that sport learns life lessons – manipulating success and failure, remaining humble. The journey with him was like meditation. You focus, talk to yourself, and win trust.

AJITH is rarely seen in comedy roles. But those close to him say he has a great sense of humor. Have you experienced that part of him?

Absolute! AJITH SIR has a sense of amazing humor. Most of the time, he jokes about himself. Just before serious scenes, he relieved the mood with a joke. I often told him that he should make a total comedy movie-people would like to see that part of it.

Before Vidamuyychi, you won the Bigg Boss Tamil Season 1. How did this be reconciled to the movie career?

Bigg Boss was a massive platform. It was like making a 100 lei movie with Kamal Sir as a hero. The show gave me a huge coverage – people still treat me like a family. If I had entered the industry through small roles, it would have been taken for years to become a hero. But Bigg Boss offered me this visibility. However, supporting a career is different – it requires understanding of public scenarios, business and expectations.

You are from Trichy without a movie background. How did you go from there to the film industry?

I come from an academic family – my father was a teacher. To act was not an obvious choice, but I always liked fun people. In school, I directed games and I was glad to understand the public reactions. Initially, I thought I would become a director, but when I approached the filmmakers for assistance, many told me to act instead. I decided to try and somewhere deep inside, I always wanted to be a hero.

Do you want to direct you once?

Not yet. To act is my goal.

Finally, what follows for you after Vidaamuyychi?

I feel grateful for the place where I am. Coming from a non-Film background, it is not easy to get into big movies. But I think hard work and talent should get my next opportunity. I have a few projects in question – I hope to continue choosing strong roles that cause me as an actor.
