Crime rate peaks | The daily star

The murder, abduction, robbery, burglary and theft have all seen a peak throughout the country in January of this year, compared to the corresponding month of the last six years, according to the police data based on the number of cases submitted.

The data come in a strong contrast with the representation of the home counselor of the situation of the law and the order of the country as “satisfactory”.

For example, at least 294 cases of murder were submitted to different police stations in January this year, compared to 231 in January. The figures were 214, 264, 257 and 273 in the corresponding month of the last four years, the data of the police headquarters show.

“The crime rate is influenced by the size of the population. It does not necessarily matter if the crime rate increases or decreases, but when they grow high impact crimes, it creates a sense of fear among the public,” he explained. “I understand that really?”

“You will feel it”

Despite such concerns, the internal business counselor, LT Gen (RETD), Jahangir Alam Chowdhury insisted that the situation and order of the country remains satisfactory, although there is “room for improvements”.
