The home guard dies in the derivation of the accidental service in Hoshiarpur in Punjab

A 56-year-old home guard died after the accidental discharge of the service kid while cleaning it during the service at the Electoral Bureau, where the EVMs are stored at the District Administrative Complex, the Police said Tuesday.

Police assistant superintendent, Gazalpret Kaur, said the preliminary investigations revealed that Kamaljit Singh was cleaning their service rifle .303 when the weapon may not be set in safety, accidentally discharged.

The bullet pierced Singh’s chin and went through his head, killing him on the spot, the officer said.

His son, who was present on the spot, told the police that his father has been bad for some time and that he accompanied him every day.
