IGP Egbetokun guides police to reduce crime rate by 50% in 2025

Police -General Inspector, Kayode Egbetokun, has mandated all police orders and formations throughout the federation to implement a comprehensive action plan, aimed at reducing 50 percent crime rates in 2025.

Egbetokun granted this directive on Monday at the opening of the conference and withdrawal from 2025 for the Superior Police Officers, organized in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

By emphasizing the importance of the inclusive police in combating uncertainty, the IGP also stressed the need for a completely society to address current security challenges and increase economic prosperity.

He said that the police will give priority to the police led by information, strategic partnerships with internal and international security agencies and community involvement to strengthen public confidence.

He said: “Our intensified operations and our cooperation commitment with military and other security agencies in our fight against banditism, kidnapper and other organized offenses have only given significant results in the last year.

“Going further, all orders and formations were mandated to implement a comprehensive action plan, aimed at reducing crime rates by 50 percent in 2025; This will also form a crucial part of our discussion at this conference. “

Regarding his investments in the development of human capital, Egbetokun said: “We have completed the plans for specialized training in forensic investigation, information collection, terrorism and cyber detection.

“These training programs will be carried out in collaboration with both local and international interested parties, to ensure that our officers are equipped with the skills necessary for applying modern law.

“As we continue with the current police year, our emphasis remains firm on improving information, strengthening forensic and digital investigation capacities and supporting zero tolerance for violating corruption and human rights within the force.”

The conference, which is the fifth edition, brings together senior police officers to evaluate administrative and operational strategies, to exchange information and to realize the police objectives with the global security landscape in Nigeria, he said.

He mentioned that the conference is expected to model the future of the police in Nigeria, participating contributing to the development of innovative and actuable strategies.

The theme of the conference is “improving internal security and economic prosperity in Nigeria through inclusive police.”
