Russian drones hit the Kyiv region of Ukraine, the energy sector in the overnight attack

Kyiv – Russia has attacked Ukraine with almost two hundred drones overnight, with the large Kyiv region and the East Energy Installations, in strikes that killed two people, authorities said on Wednesday.

Russia has intensified drone strikes with attacks on Ukraine every night in recent weeks, and on Sunday the number of drones was a 267 record in three years of war.

Ukraine’s aerial defenses decreased 110 out of 177 drones launched by Russia in the overnight attack, said the air force.

He said that another 66 drones were “lost”, with reference to the use by electronic War for the redirection of the Russian drone. Kyiv regions, Kharkiv, Kirovohrad and Sumy were targeted by strikes.

The largest private energy company in Ukraine, DTEK, said that its southern energy installation -the East of the Dnipropetrovsk region was damaged, without giving details.

Russia has focused on missile and drones on the electric sector of Ukraine last year, but in recent months it has intensified the attacks on gas storage and production fields.

A drone attack on the Kiev region killed two, hurt at least two and set several houses, said the Ukrainian Ministry of Interior.

The body of a civilian was found in a house that caught fire as a result of the attack, Mykola Kalashnyk, the governor of the region surrounding the Ukrainian capital, wrote in a post about the Telegram Messegress application.

The Emergency Service posted several photos and videos on the telegram of firefighters who are struggling with flames at night in what seemed to be residential buildings and garages in the Kiev region.

There was no immediate comment from Russia.

Both sides denies the targeting of civilians in the war, which began in February 2022 with the large -scale invasion of Russia. But thousands of civilians were killed in the conflict, the vast majority of their Ukrainian.
