The company faces the safety fee at work after the worker killed by the 454 kg tire

A Moncton tire store is facing a job fee at work, after a worker was killed in the last fall by a tire that weighed 454 kilograms.

The accusation under the Law on health and occupational health of the province was placed on Monday at the Moncton provincial court.

He argues that Coast Tire & Auto Service Ltd. did not provide adequate equipment to move oversized tires in its location in Baig Boulevard, on October 18, 2024.

Lynn Meahan-Carson, the communication manager for worksafenb, said in a statement that the tire fell on an employee while being downloaded from a truck.

“Our investigation revealed that, while Coast Tire & Auto Service Ltd., had a written procedure for handling or transporting heavy heavy tires from trailer to warehouse, the procedure did not provide the associated dangers,” Meahan-Carson said in statement.

The company is scheduled to return to court on March 24.

Worksafenb said the accusation refers to the death of Timothy David Steeves, 41 years old, from Weldon whose obituary says he worked for Coast Tire for 17 years.
