Two arrested for the offers of installing the fake mobile tower

Two members of a band were arrested for fraudulent people, making them pay heavy registration fees in the pretext of installing mobile towers on their properties, the police said on Wednesday.

A police officer said the scammers -Sarfaraz (36 years old) and Munna Singh (37 years old) operated fake web sites and led cheating online advertisements to make victims believe that they are facing authentic telecommunications companies.

Police said Sarfaraz, a graduate of a Bihar university, was a qualified independent site developer before calling for cyber fraud.

The other accused, Munna Singh, BCA, worked in front of IT companies in Noida and Gurogram, but then took it to scam people online. Deputy Police Commissioner (Oubternorth), Nidhin Valsan, said investigators have linked at least six cases to this band, with the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center (I4C), analyzing possible connections at national level.

“Frauds drove a sophisticated rocket by creating false web sites and broadcasting online advertisements. Victims, believing they are in charge of telecommunications companies, have been asked to pay registration fees. Once the payment has been made, all communications have ceased,” said the officer.

The scam came to light after a resident of Pooth Khurd in Delhi complained to the police that some people contacted him on the phone to install a mobile tower on his property. Then he realized he was cheated, DCP said.

A team of police officials in charge of cracking the case was pursued by the accused by mobile phone numbers
