The man Coquitlam arrested after the Burnaby Bear-Spray robbery during the market exchange

Police are asking residents to be cautious about online market exchanges after a robbery in January.

A Coquitlam man was arrested last week about a teddy bear in Burnaby in January.

The police responded to the reports of a robbery in the area Halifax Street and Phillips Avenue Even after 7:30 pm, on January 26, according to a press release of the GRC on Wednesday.

“The victim reported that he had met an unknown man to sell some articles after he was advertising online,” the launch said. “The suspect approached the victim and, once he had objects in his possession, Pepper sprayed the victim before running away from the scene.”

The suspect was left before the police arrived, according to the police.

However, after an investigation, the police executed a search warrant for a Coquitlam residence on February 18, and a man was arrested.

The investigation is in progress.

But Burnaby RCMP warns local residents to be careful when using online platforms to buy and sell items.

“We know that people will use these platforms, but we only ask them to be cautious, especially when organizing a meeting where money and properties need to be changed,” Bornaby RCMP SGT. Aly Mohan said in the statement.
