Family of Indian Comatose Student in us

The family of a US Indian student in the US after an accident is waiting to get a visa to visit it. Nilaam shinde35 years old, she is in a coma after an accident in California on February 14, and her family from Satara in Maharashtra is trying to get a visa since then.

Speaking with NDTV, her uncle, Sanjay Kadam, said they tried to book visa slots, but the next slot is for next year.

“The hospital asked us to visit it as soon as possible, as it is in a critical condition,” said Mr. Kadam, who found out about the accident on February 16th.

“We call the hospital every day and we hear it’s critical,” he said.

“The visa slot we get is for 2026,” he added.

Some Indian students were with her at the hospital, but no one in her family, he said.

Speaking of the accident, Mr. Kadam said she suffered fractures and wounds to her chest and head.

He said that the hospital asked for permission to operate on Mrs. Shinde’s brain.

The NCP (SP) deputy Supriya Sule posted in support of the family and asked for the help of the Minister of Foreign Affairs S Jaishankar to get her father a visa, wearing him in his post X.

He also talked to NDTV and said that this is an “alarming problem” and that we all have to work together to solve it.

She said she can have “political differences” with Mr. Jaishankar, BJP leader, but is “very useful and empathetic” in terms of the problem of Indian students from abroad.

“My experience with me (the Ministry of Foreign Affairs) has been extraordinarily very good. They always go to help,” said Mrs. Sule, adding that she has reached the US Embassy in Mumbai.

India has now addressed the United States government for a visa request for Mrs. Shinde’s relatives. Sources told NDTV that the Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs contacted the US administration to issue a visa or at least an emergency travel permit.

Mrs. Shinde, a master’s degree in science, is in the US for four years and is in the last year.
