Gainesville ISD acts findings on the investigation of 11 -year -old student suicide

Gainesville, Texas (Kxii) – the investigation came after assumed the intimidation of classmates who threatened to call “ice” on his family.

The district says he came to their first time on January 30, when Jocelynn Carranza told the administrators that a student has comments on ice and deportation to a group of Hispanic students on the bus. The next day, the district transport director confirmed that those observations were made to a group of Hispanic students with whom Jocelynn was not seated, but close enough to hear them and that it was not the first time it happened.

GISD said the student was identified, interviewed and disciplined the next day. After that, GISD discovered that Jocelynn seemed to have a positive week and participated in a birth party that Saturday, with witnesses saying that he appeared with a good spirit and enjoyed the event.

On February 4, GISD said they were informed that Jocelynn had been hospitalized “Because of an accident.” The next day, the students reported that Jocelynn was intimidated and launched an investigation the next day.

Students told district investigators Jocelynn told them that she was improperly touched by a family member she wanted to keep secret to avoid having problems. Because of other children in the house, GISD said they are legally obliged to report this to CPS, who are now investigating.

The investigation also revealed that Jocelynn had previously expressed his thoughts of self-harm, who informed her mother. Information about which the district said he was never shared with them.

The report continues to say that Jocelynn was in emotional counseling in October, with a permit slip signed by her mother.

GISD said they would continue to support Jocelynn’s family.
