According to IAS, the police officer and two accomplices aboard two motorcycles forced money and a mobile phone from a victim to the weapon in the western Bicutan in Taguig City last June.

An operation of pursuit by the police led to the arrest of the three suspects and led to the discovery that one of them was the active policeman, who used the firearm issued by PNP during the exploitation of the robbery.

“This type of criminal behavior is exactly what harms the public confidence in the Philippine National Police,” said IAS inspector general, Brigido Dulay, in a statement.

“This dismissal serves as an emphasized reminder that being a police officer is not only a job, but a lifetime responsibility to maintain public integrity and confidence,” added Dulay.
