HMRC threatens the victims of the “Loan Tax” scandal with debt collectors. The fiscal authority “intensifies its action” due to the six-year interval that they have to recover on unpaid taxes, according to the RSM accounting company.

Tony Connelly, a tax consultant who represents a company and his former directors that HMRC claims is likely to pay the loan tax, said the deadline for April 5 was to push the taxi to act now. He added: “(HMRC) threatens to do this for several years.

“But due to the current state of treasury finances, they make efforts to collect these taxes. There is a time limit for the moment when HMRC can recover taxes – often six years. It has to pick up an evaluation to recover this tax.”

The HM revenues and customs have acknowledged that there were 10 suicides related to the pursuit of “loan taxes”. A woman had an abortion due to an encryptic tax request, was said yesterday, as the ministers were called to intervene and launch an independent investigation.

While HMRC left for people – including teachers, assistants and cleaning – it is said that they ignored companies that have made hundreds of millions of pounds that promote tax avoidance schemes from which workers became part, even if they did not know.

Mr. Connelly said, “If I can determine that the taxpayer’s or counselors’ actions have exceeded the non -observance, then they can exceed this date. But most people were advised that there is no fee. So there is a good argument to say that they did nothing that failed to take reason.”

Speaking before, a HMRC spokesman said: “The loan tax is trying to recover the tax that was avoided by disguising the income in loans. It is our responsibility to collect the tax that people owe. We take the welfare of all taxpayers very seriously and recognize that the approach of large tax obligations can lead to pressure on individuals.

“The support we have in force to help people establish the previous avoidance of taxes, includes offering payment by installments: these arrangements are based on what the taxpayer can afford and there is no upper limit in terms of as long as we can spread payments. Our message to anyone is worried about what it owes is: Please contact us as soon as possible to talk about options.

“Above all, we want to prevent people from entering these types of situations and our message is clear – if a tax scheme sounds too good to be true, it is probably.”
