A motorcyclist was killed after being hit by a Bus Ramjan Paribahan in the Hajipara Rampura area in the Capital this afternoon.

The victim, Ali Hossain Talukder, 34 years old, the son of Abdul Aziz Tlukder, was an accountant at the Public School and the College of Girls in Cantonment Dhaka.

Following the accident, a crowd set fire to the bus, which was later extinguished by a fire unit.

The accident took place around 3:30 pm in front of the Hajipara ramp.

After receiving the news, a unit of fire services rushed to the scene and let go. They also recovered and surrendered the police body, said Khaleda Yasmin, the service officer of the Fire Service.

Abu Hanif Sohan said that the man was riding a bicycle near the Hajipara gas pump, when a Bus Ramjan Paribahan hit him, leaving him dead on the spot.

“The bus had no side mirrors. Despite the motorcyclist repeatedly, the driver did not hear it. The bus continued to push it to the sidewalk, and when it fell from the motorcycle, it was crushed under the wheels,” he added.

At the hospital of the Dhaka Medical College, the victim’s brother, MD Alam Tlukder, said that their family lives in the village of Kumirmara in Pirojpur Sadar Upazila.

He mentioned that his brother was living in a shared apartment, near the Malibagh Chowdhurypa Matir mosque.

“He has previously worked at the Daily Bangladesh newspaper before joining the public school and the Dhaka cantonment college as an accountant about seven to eight months ago,” he said.

The sub -inspector of MD Abdur Rahman from the Police Station Rampura said: “Following the incident, the crowd vandalized the bus,” he said, adding that the driver was arrested.

“The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Morgue for an autopsy,” he added.
