The man who stole money from cash -by -cash cars closed

A man who stole money from hundreds of cash cars in England has been closed for more than two years.

Andrei Matei stole more than 19,000 pounds using a tool to block cash distributors, said the West Yorkshire police, allowing him to take money from within.

National Romanian, 35, from Failworth, Greater Manchester, stole from over 480 cash cars in locations, including West Yorkshire, London, Wiltshire, Nottinghashire and Berkshire, causing damages evaluated at 30,000 pounds.

Appearing Wednesday in front of the Crown LEEDS Court, Matei was sentenced to 27 months in prison after admitting 483 charges of theft and criminal damages.

He will also be deported once he was released, the force said.

The investigation started in West Yorkshire, but the officers from the organized crime unit in Yorkshire and Humber subsequently set up Matei and a accomplice also aimed on cash.

Matei, from Oldham Road, was arrested in Nottinghamshire in September 2023, the police said.

Between 2023, he targeted cars in supermarkets, garages and commercial streets in Huddersfield, Bradford, Nottingham, Newbury, Salisbury, Bath, Bristol, Devides, London and Stopsley.
