Maritime Lagos trucks suspend strike while discussions begin – News – The Guardian Nigeria News – Nigeria and World News

The transport trucks operating in APAPA and TIN CAN PORTS AXIS and suspended the withdrawal of the planned services following the intervention of the state government in Lagos and the interested parties maritime to solve their dissatisfaction.

The suspension was announced yesterday, in a joint statement issued by the secretaries of the Nigerian Association of Road Transport owners (Narto), the Association of Maritime Truck owners (Amato) and the Union of Maritime Workers (MWUN).

The cameras have previously threatened that they will withdraw their services on February 24, 2025, to protest what they have described as “operating activities” by the State Committee in Lagos to remove the abandoned vehicles and the special traffic management and execution team from APAPA.

The groups have quoted repeated cases of harassment, intimidation, extortion and imposing excessive, unregulated sanctions, on the operators of transport trucks from the access areas by the agents.

However, following the intervention by the State Government of Lagos and the commitments with key agencies, including the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, the Nigerian Port Authority (NPA), the Nigerian Council (NSC) and the Nigeria Customs (NCS) service, the trucks agreed to suspend their last -minute and withdrawal plan.
