Pleasant Grove, Utah – a teacher of history and guided studies at the Grove Junior Pleasant High School was arrested after he had sexually abused by a student.

29 -year -old Keaton Tanner was arrested on Wednesday and is facing rape accusations and modifying a witness.

According to the arrest report submitted by a Pleasant Grove police officer, Keaton had sex with the student when he was 12 and 13 years old. However, the report did not mention when the abuse claimed by the student took place.

A friend of the alleged victim contacted the police after the victim told him “she has a secret” and then shared what happened between her and Tanner, while she was a student in the eighth grade at the Junior High School.

According to the victim’s friend, Tanner had sex with the student at his former apartment in Orem. When the friend why the relationship ended, the victim said that it was after Tanner “obtained on Ruff (sic) with her by pushing her in a dark wardrobe and raped it.”

Both the friend and the victim went to Turner’s current residence in the American Fork to face the relationship, sharing the information with an unknown woman at home. After leaving, the friend and victim sat in a vehicle when Tanner beat a window and entered the back seat.

While the victim’s friend recorded what happened, Tanner would have told the victim to say “she” only had something and did not have sex. ” Tanner added that he will give the girl “a lot of money” and had $ 500 in the car. When we returned after we went to his car, he said he had only $ 50.

In an interview with the officials, the victim said that what happened was “very difficult to talk” several times and asked to leave, finishing the interview.

When the administration of the Junior Pleasant Grove High School was notified of the charges against Tanner, the main assistant “was heard saying to another employee, probably (the names of the victims) happened to be correct,” the report shows. The assistant director said that school officials have previously spoken with Tanner to “say to stop having a victim in the classroom all the time.”

The director told the police that about 10 days before talking to the police with school officials, Tanner has taken a one -year sabbatical in Germany.

“They are afraid that (Tanner) is trying to run away from the country, as he asked for the Sabbath shortly after he was confronted by the victim and the plaintiff,” the officer wrote.

During a police interview, Tanner told the detectives that the victim was not one of his students, adding: “I think I liked it.” He added that he would see the student very much when the family moved to the same orem apartments where he lived. According to the arrest report, the victim’s mother said he allowed the victim to “choose the apartment in which they moved.”

Tanner was placed on administrative leave by the Alpine School District, which cooperates with the police investigation.

“The assistance of our students is not negotiable,” the district said in a statement. “All the district employees are subject to a criminal background check before the start. When we find out about the conduct of the employees who could violate the trustworthy employers placed in us, we take appropriate measures to protect the students.
