The civil process against Kecmanović postponed due to suspension of lawyers’ activity

In the High Court of Belgrade, today, the civil procedures against the father, the mother and the boy who killed nine colleagues and a school guard at the elementary school “Vladislav Ribnikar” on May 3, 2023 and, according to the Dukić family, whose daughter was killed, was displayed until April 3.

The process was postponed due to the suspension of the activity of lawyers.

This procedure was initiated against Miljana and Vladimir Kecmanović, their son, as well as against the school and the state, and following a trial by the Dukić family members, whose daughter was killed at that time.

The court will decide on this request only after the conclusion of civil procedures and will make a decision, whether or partially accepts the family’s request, whether it will reject it.

The process was filed in civil procedures to compensate for non-material damages for mental pain suffered due to the death of a close person, as well as for fear suffered.

In addition, there are three other civil procedures. At the end of last year, the High Court issued a first -court verdict in the criminal procedure, whereby Vladimir Kecmanović was sentenced to 14 and a half years in prison, Miljana Kecmanović to three years in prison, and Nemanja Marinković, the instructor in the shooting range, where the minor practiced 15 months.

Vladimir and Miljana Kecmanović were convicted of the criminal offense to neglect and abuse a child, while Vladimir Kecmanović was also convicted of the criminal offense of serious crime against public safety.

In addition to the criminal case, a civilian procedure was completed against Kecmanović, following a process filed by 27 members of the killed family. Kk minor is criminal irresponsible, because he was not 14 years old at the time of the massacre.
