The fishing boat catches fire on the Raigad coast – the fishing boat catches on fire on the Raigad coast, all 18 crew members safely

A private fishing boat caught fire at about 6-7 nautical miles from the coast near Alibaug, in the Raigad district of Maharashtra, between 3 and 4 in the morning. The ship suddenly broke out in flames, creating a situation that endangers the 18 crew members.

Emergency services mobilized quickly after the suffering call. The Indian coast guard, in a close coordination with Marina, has launched a quick response operation in dark conditions. In a key development, ICGS Savitribai Phule, while in the patrol outside Mumbai, noticed the burning boat in the 190 Prongs Lt 21 position.

The ICGS ship immediately responded to the incident and confirmed that all 18 fishermen were safely transferred to another fishing boat (IFB) in the area.

“Our teams have made sure that each crew member was saved and set on an alternative ship,” a coastal guard spokesman said. The ship is currently engaged in fire control operations to bring the fire under control and to prevent additional damage.

The preliminary reports indicate that the fire has spread rapidly on the ship, leaving the crew with very little time to react. The origin of the fire remains in investigation, local authorities and maritime safety officials to determine the precise cause of the incident.

The fishing boat is owned by Rakesh Gan.

All members of the saved crew were transported to a nearby medical unit for evaluation, although no serious injuries were reported.
