Three RJ Vial Elementary employees arrested in investigating the child's cruelty

Paradise, at. (WVUE) – Three employees of the RJ Vial Elementary School in the Parish St. Charles were arrested following an investigation into the alleged mistreatment of a student, the authorities confirmed on Friday (February 28).

The office of the Sheriff of the Parish St. Charles launched the investigation after school officials reported concerns about the potential damage to a student.

According to the detectives, the child’s mother noticed an unusual bruise on the right bicep of her child, the left chest and the upper rear on February 25th.

She contacted the school to determine if incidents were held that could explain the wounds.

The school administrators examined the video materials and the student’s daily journal before announcing the law enforcement. After examining the samples, the detectives obtained arrest warrants for three school employees:

Richard Hudson, II, 44, teacher, was reserved with a number of cruelty for minors, an offense.
Quuiana Smith, 46, a para-educator, was reserved with a number of cruelty for minors, an offense.
Misty Schaubhut, 47, a substitute teacher, was reserved with the failure to report abuse, a crime.

In a statement, the public schools of the parish of St. Charles have confirmed that the school system is carrying out its own internal investigation, in addition to collaborating with law enforcement.

“RJ Vial Elementary School examines how a student incident was managed by the school employees,” the statement said. “According to our commitment to the safety and welfare of the students, the school system promptly notified the Sheriff’s office of the parish. Charles, in addition to initiating his own internal investigation. The associated employees were placed on leave waiting for the outcome of the investigation.
