Swimmers from all over Kansas raise money, awareness of children struggling with critical diseases

Wichita, Kan. (Kwch) – For the 13th year, swimmers from all over Kansas will “swim at a desire” to raise money and awareness for local children who are fighting with critical diseases.

The event was founded in 2013 by Kelly Kennedy, a swimming coach of the Campus high school, whose daughter was helped by the Make-A-Wish Foundation during her fight with cancer. Since then, he has been dedicated to give back.

This year’s event will present teams from local high schools, including campus, derby, South South and Central Salina. Each team will work for a fundraising goal of $ 5,000 to help support the wishes of local children.

Vincent Finley, a swimmer for Campus High School, says that participating in this 100 mile race is important for children.

“I help to raise money and only swim, but it really contributes to a bigger cause.”

A local family, which has been helped by Make-a-Wish, says to see that community support means a lot to them.

“People who volunteer to come and swim with children is spectacular. It’s very fine. “

This year, Swim to a Wish also intends to raise more money, offering a headset by Kansas City bosses and self -lived by LineBocker Nick Bolt. People can participate in the raffle by buying tickets at Glenn Crum Natatorium from Campus High School this weekend or contacting coach Kelly Kennedy.
