Pastor in court for alleged GH ₵ 310,000 visa fraud

Pastor in court for alleged GH ₵ 310,000 visa fraud

Cris Karl Ofori, a pastor, was on Friday in front of the dance circuit because he would have frauduted a businessman of GH ₵ 310,000.

OFORI is said to have collected the amount from the applicant (businessman) under the pretext to help him secure visas for him and his family.

Accused of fraudulently claiming, Oofori pleaded innocent.

The court admitted it to the oofs to bail in the amount of GH ₵ 350,000 with three guarantees. Two of the guarantees must be civil servants who earn no less than GH ₵ 5,000.

The remaining safety must be justified with the title deed.

The case was postponed until April 25, 2025.

The criminal prosecution, led by the chief inspector Kwadwo Aboagye, told the court that the applicant, Amadu Seidu, was a resident in Sampa in the Bono region.

The accused is a branch pastor of a charismatic church on the theme.

In 2023, the criminal prosecution said that the applicant expressed his intention to travel to Canada with his family to reinstall there.

The plaintiff discussed this with a Nana Abena Sika, who presented the accused as someone who could help (applicant) in the procurement processes.

In October 2024, the accused informed the applicant to assume a commitment of GHC80,000, which the applicant promptly made and added three passport brochures (his, those of his wife and daughter) to start the documentation process.

The prosecutor’s office said that the accused managed to collect various amounts of money in a total value of 310,000 GH from the applicant.

Subsequently, the accused called the applicant that he was not successful with the purchase of Canadian visa, but obtained visas for the United Kingdom (UK).

Based on this fact, the accused invited the plaintiff and family to Accra for traveling to the UK.

The prosecutor’s office said that the accused was hidden and for three days when the family reached Accra. It was found nowhere.

The court heard that the applicant’s family had returned to Sampa. A report was made to the James Town police, and the accused was arrested from his hiding place.

Oofori, in his caution statement, acknowledged the crime, said the criminal prosecution.
