Stuart residents like Vitrigna Carboni know how busy the streets can reach the city center in the evening.

“In the evening, I always expect it to be a little more crowded,” Carboni said.

It was a typical crowded evening, when the police said that an elderly couple was attacked in the parking lot in front of Stuart City Hall on January 31.

According to police, a couple from the 70s looked for a parking place when they saw a man enters his truck. Stuart police said the couple waited a few minutes before asking the driver if he left. Then the investigators believe that the man got upset and brutally attacked the couple, throwing them to the ground and hitting it.

“(I am in) distrust that it will happen in this quiet city, where it is always so peaceful,” said Resident Frank Dobbs.

This week, the police said he found the man I think is responsible. Mark Swick, 47, was arrested in Port St. Lucie and accused of two battery charges for a person over 65 years old.

Visitors in the city center said they would think twice before leaving their guard down.

“It can happen anywhere. You know, nothing surprises me, “Carboni said.” You just have to always be on guard. “

He has people for Dunn to adopt an additional feeling of awareness in the center of Stuart.

“I will come to the center of the city and I will do the things I do normally, but I have an awareness about me that I would not normally have,” said Dunn.
