Woman slammed for the use of gofundme for home deposit

A woman was mocked online after launching a gofundme page to ask foreigners to contribute money to the warehouse of her house.

Emmalee Potter, a three -year -old mother from Victoria, wrote on the page that he “suffered a few years” and is based on friends and family for accommodation.

Now, however, Potter is finally being in the position in which he is in a bit of he could buy his new house after “worked hard for saving”, but it is still at $ 3,000 outside of her goal.

As he wrote on the fundraising page, “I’m almost in the last stage, but I’m short in the warehouse, so I call my village. Please help me to overcome this last obstacle, every little one really helps, a house is more than just a place to live. “

“It is a basis for the next chapter of life, a space in which memories are made and where I can really start to feel settled. Your donation, regardless of size, will go straight to help me touch this dream. “

While Mrs. Potter thanked those who could contribute, many were not impressed by her using the platform to finance their house.

“Without hatred, but do you expect people to donate you, so you can buy a house?” One person asked, while another added: “I’m sorry, but that’s ridiculous. If we all start the GoFundme accounts, one can start as well, so I can go to a holiday in Greece. “

Another person wrote: “It is a difficult time for everyone trying to buy a house, especially at the cost of life, so I am a bit confused why you ask for donations. The first paragraph of your list says “I am now in a position to buy a house”, but do you ask foreigners to send you money for the deposit? “

Mrs. Potter defended the fundraising page, while responding to an indignant commentator, writing: “It’s not about” financing a house “, it is the small amount that is still needed to buy something.”

“I and my children live in a room with my friends. Purchase is actually cheaper than rental. We asked for over 100 rentals and we were removed back. I can receive the loan at home and pay the refunds (are) only the last bit of the warehouse. “

Others were quick to defend the woman, as a person wrote, “There is nothing wrong with asking for help.”
