From frozen storm to winter and strong winds

From frozen storm to winter and strong winds

Marquette, Mich. (Wuc) –

A complex system of slow movement storms will result in wet/frozen conditions and dangerous travel tomorrow. The first part of this system brings a round of rain this morning. It is combined with temperatures near frost, which could lead to frozen surfaces. This is why a first day of the alert weather remains in force until 10 in the morning. Until this after -being, temperatures rise above frost, and the showers continue in the eastern half. The main low pressure system rises from the central plains this evening. Therefore, we will start to have a transition to wet snow in the west until this evening.

A second day of the alert weather will start at 7:00 pm tonight until 1 in the morning, while a winter storm will go down. The wet heavy snow is spreading tonight, causing Sloppy roads tomorrow morning. Then the snow goes to drier consistency as temperatures drop in the 20s during the day. Will remain spread until tomorrow night. We expect dangerous road conditions, because the winds become strong. The northeast winds will have speeds of 20-25, and the bursts will vary 35-45+MPH. Snow breath will cause poor visibility and white outings near the Superior Lake.

The snow will be heavy, with big accumulations. To start the smallest amounts of snow will take place in the south of the East up and along Lake Michigan, with a range of 1-3 ″. An 8-12 ″ snow range will appear for the rest UP, however, the western and northwestern UP will have higher quantities. Western Up will vary 12-15 ″ with 15-18 ″ in portions of Gogebic, Ontonagon, Houghton and Keweenaw counties. The highest amounts of snowfall will vary 20-24 ″ in the higher altitudes of Baraga and Western Marquette counties. The city of Marquette will have a 12-15 ″ snow range. If the track of this system will change, we could reach with smaller amounts of snow.
