Man ‘wanted for over a year’ extradited to Tasmania over child abuse allegations

A man wanted on child abuse charges for more than 12 months has been extradited from Queensland to Tasmania.

The 31-year-old was arrested on the Gold Coast on Wednesday by Queensland Police, assisted by detectives from Kingston CIB.

He appeared at Southport Magistrates Court in Queensland on Thursday and was given an order for his return to Tasmania.

The man landed in Hobart on Friday and will appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court over the weekend.

Police have not released any other details about the specific charges against the man.
