Adventure -loving engineer Shanghaman Gowribalan, 24, made kayak with his friends on a dam when his kayak spilled with water.

Backpacker traveled 6,000 miles from Wales to Thailand when he fell to the deepest of the beauty tank.

Mr. Gowribalan – who was born in Sri Lanka, but grew up and went to school and university in Swansea – was described as a young “worker, organized and intelligent”, who liked to travel.

He and a friend were traveling to the southern part of Thailand in February last year, when he hit the tragedy.

Shortly after eating breakfast, he went out on the Cheow LAN Dam – an artificial lake of 185 square meters – in the Khao Sok National Park.

But the investigation heard that at 9 in the morning he fell in the lake when the water spilled into the kayak around 500 m away from the Kraisorn cork. His friend raised the alarm and a big search operation was launched.

The rescue teams together with the diving divers searched the lake for three days.

On February 14, Mr. Gowribalan’s body washed near the accommodation where he was sitting.

At the Swansea Guildhall investigation on Wednesday, a report was read by Coroner’s officer Claire Seymour, who said there is a need for people to get a kayak, which means they will be provided with a palette and a rescue jacket.

A post-mortem examination found water and sewerage in both chest cavities.

The investigation also heard that Mr. Gowribalan had no history of alcohol or drug abuse and no health problems.
