Sycamore city greets the new police chief

Sycamore, ill. (WIFR) – Erik Mahan, a professional in applying the 29 -year -old law, is appointed in the next police chief.

Mahan will officially take the role on March 17, after being sworn in the meeting of the Municipal Council that night.

Currently, he is the deputy chief of police for St. Charles, but has been part of the Sycamore community for over 20 years. In St. Charles, supervised a budget of $ 17.8 million, personally supervised and led accreditation efforts.

“I am honored to work as the next Sycamore police chief and I look forward to working with the community, city officials and dedicated members of the Sycamore Police Department,” Mahan said. “My emphasis will be on consolidating partnerships, supporting professionalism and ensuring the safety and confidence of our residents.”

Mahan has a bachelor’s degree in the law and the Western Illinois University’s justice administration and has completed the advanced leadership training at the University Police School.
