Two men who provided cocaine kilograms to Florida drug traffickers, Georgia sentenced to 15 years in federal imprisonment

Statesboro, Ga. – Two men who were convicted of providing cocaine kilograms in Georgia and Florida for a major drug trafficking conspiracy were sentenced to the Federal prison, according to the US Department of Justice in the South District of Georgia.

Pedro Castro-Vasquez, called “Chipo”, 53, from Puerto Rico, and Sonic Torres-Garcia, 27, from Kissimmee, Florida, each have been convicted after being guilty for multiple drug charges. Judge J. Randal Hall, J. Randal Hall sentenced Castro-Vasquez to 15 years in prison and a fine of $ 1,500, followed by three years of supervised release and sentenced Torres-Garcia to 15 years in prison, consecutively with other states of state and federal pendants and a fine of $ 2,500.

“The conspiracy identified in this investigation for several years has been responsible for the import and distribution of large quantities of drugs in the South District,” said American lawyer Tara Lyons. “Several law enforcement agencies have persisted by this long investigation in identifying players in this drug trafficking operation, keeping them responsible for spreading misery in the Southern District.”

As described in the indictment of 49 inseciled numbers in November 2022, the “Carpet Ride operation” identified a drug trafficking conspiracy operating in Bulloch, Burke, Candler, Effingham, Evans, Liberty, Richmond and Tattnal of Georgia and other parts, from January 2016.

Leaded by Daniel Morales-Jimenez, also “Danny Hill”, 48, from Puerto Rico, the conspiracy imported large amounts of cocaine, methamphetamine and other drugs from and through Puerto Rico, Florida and Georgia. Morales-Jimenez was guilty for the accusations of federal conspiracy in both the southern district and Puerto Rico and is waiting for the conviction.

Castro-Vasquez has been identified as a kilo-quantity distributor who obtained cocaine from Morales-Jimenz, arranging import into continental United States. Torres-Garcia provided kilograms of Cocaine to Demarr Clayton Lee, 55, from Miami, while arranging to deliver cocaine to the southern district using his family members. Lee, who was a guilty hiring in conspiracy, executes a sentence of more than 8 years of federal imprisonment, while another 26 defendants from the Ride Operation executed penalties of up to 20 years in prison, after pleaded culprit.

“This case represents the continuous commitment of the drug application administration to identify and respond to those who engage in the distribution of dangerous drugs,” said Jae W. Chung, the special interim agent responsible for the DA Atlanta Division.
